The 1997-98 year took place under

- Surveyed existing business and industry, compiled and distributed results. Kansas Business First, a software program designed by the Department of
Commerce & Housing will be used for data base and to follow up on information
and concerns expressed by businesses.
- Education Committee, Hospital Liaison and Wildlife & Parks Liaison
committees have continued to keep communication open between the business
community and the above mentioned respective areas of particular importance
to the community. The Education committee also hosted the annual Teachers
Get Acquainted Coffee for teachers and the business community.
- In cooperation with PAEDC, promotional materials are being developed
to stimulate interest of PHS and Skyline graduates to move back to the
community.
- The Agriculture Committee sponsored the third annual Kids Day on the
Farm and received recognition for the volunteer effort from USDA National
Resources Consevation Services.
- The Legislative Committee sponsored two Legislative Breakfasts
- Sponsored Small Business Recognition and participated in Small Business
Appreciation Month with the State Department of Commerce & Housing.
Recipient, Trand, Inc. received State regional recognition.
- The Ambassador Committee called on new and expanding businesses throughout
the year.
- To utilize the technology available, a Chamber and Economic Development
Web site has been developed and is continuously updated as a marketing
tool for the community.
- The Membership Committee sponsored regular monthly invitational breakfasts
to say "Thanks" to members for their support and to solicit their
thoughts and ideas. A monthly networking activity is held which are coffees,
Business After Hours and Quarterly Breakfasts. Two New Member Orientation
Luncheons were hosted.
Community Relations
- Community activities included
hosting the annual Christmas parade, Christmas lighting contest, and Santa's
visits
- Sponsored the sixth Leadership
2000 PLUS program
- Hosted Telepower 97 Conference
in Pratt
- In cooperation with the City
Tourism Committee successfully bid for the Kansas Sampler Fesitval for
1998 and 1999
- Cooperated in tri county celebration
of designation of Highway 54 from Kingman to Greensburg as the Cannonball
Stageline Highway
